Who am I ?
I’m Chrissie, a mum, personal trainer, life coach and triathlete based in Surrey and I’m excited about helping you be fitter and stronger both in mind and body. I firmly believe that you really can’t do one without the other so I will incorporate both in your training.
I offer classes as well as personal or small-group coaching.
Your goal might be to increase overall fitness, complete a park-run without walking, get round a tough-mudder course or to swim, cycle or run faster or for longer.
I want you to enjoy your coaching, so whatever the goal, I can tailor a coaching plan that fits around your life and which is sustainable for the longer term.
My Story
8 years ago, I decided to enter a triathlon. I was living in the Middle East at the time and these events were very attainable given the good weather and facilities. My marriage was coming to an end under circumstances out of my control and I needed a focus; something that could reset my mind and body. Just going to the gym with no real goal was not going to work. I bought a bike and dusted down my trainers and I filled most of my early mornings, evenings and weekends either cycling, swimming or running. What I didn’t do was spend time in the gym. More of this to follow.
Race day arrived, in a borrowed tri-suit I entered the sea to swim nearly a kilometre in breast-stroke. After 700m and what felt like an eternity swimming against the current, I was hauled out of the water by the support boat. I was shattered, but determined to carry on. The bike was a 20km route around a 5km track, it was boring and my legs were suffering from using up most of my energy in the sea. The run was more of a walk and I eventually made it over the finish line in 2 hours and 45 minutes vowing never to do one again!
On the day of the race, I met a few other women who were part of an all-female triathlon club. They were amazing, offering me tips and advice and generally taking me ‘under their wing.’ I signed up and started to attend more structured training events with my new ‘girl-gang’. This is when I learnt the most important lesson. If I wanted to improve my time, I had to strengthen my muscles. If I wanted to swim, run or cycle quicker, I had to add drills to my training. At the time this felt all too- time consuming. But I committed myself and stayed focus. The following year, I got over the finish line in 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Key to my mental health at the time, was having goals that were personal to me and having an immense feeling of confidence when improvements were forthcoming. I returned to Surrey to be amongst friends and family 5 years ago, joined a local triathlon club and continue to strength train at least twice a week. I have learnt so much about myself on this journey that I am passionate about supporting others to do the same.
